Report on climate bike tours in 2019

2020-02-10 por toniopenia

By Jens Erik Larsen

The climate group in Gribskov has had eight trips on the program in 2019. The trips were spread out over the municipality, and the same applies to the themes.

A little longer trip were made to Stevns, where we looked at eco-green on the farm Brinkholm as well as the new total ecological Permatopia.

First we heard how things are going with the Farming Pool at Brinkholm Farm near Karise. This is a whole new form of farming in agriculture – perhaps a future model – where urban dwellers and others own the farm on a cooperative basis and get good vegetables delivered from country to city. The initiative started in 2001, when there were not as many organic foods in the stores as there are now. There are 500 members, each of whom has contributed DKK 5,000. 150 boxes of organic vegetables are brought out to residents from Greve to Copenhagen every week. There is a tent site with shelters – a Free Birds project – and nice scenery down to Tryggevälla Å. See more at www.landbrugslauget.dk

Permatopia is a new initiative with sustainable housing. After many meetings and working days, they were able to move in in September 2018. There are 21 Ha, which can be roughly divided into 3 equal areas, namely the settlement, the forest and then the field with vegetables, orchard with built-in mobile henhouse. A power plant consisting of a wind turbine, a geothermal plant and a thermal tank to store excess heat. The wind turbine produces 80% of the electricity. The houses have separation toilets that separate the dark sewage and urine. A very large arrow cleaning system with 16,000 willow branches cleans all the dark sewage. Toilet flush is rainwater.

The houses are really nice and smartly decorated with 7 m for kip, loft, flexible sizes, look out where there are paths and spaces between the houses and everything is of course sustainable materials.

A lot of work is being done on structuring decision-making – people will try to move to “socio-democracy” rather than majority decisions, and there are many working groups and networks based on the housing clusters and the working groups. When the communal kitchen and the dining room «paycheck» is finished, everyone should be able to cook, but there is no compulsion to eat with each day, you can also pick up food and take home in the houses.
