Jens Erik Larsen, Foreningen Frie Fugle
The undersigned is a member of the Climate Group in Gribskov and together with the Cyclist Association in Gribskov and the municipality’s Center for Culture, Leisure and Tourism (sports and public education). We have now established Cycling Without Age at 4 care centers in Gribskov Municipality in North Zealand.
Cycling Without Age takes place with trishaws – a 3-wheel electric bicycle where the passengers sit in front – protected from the rain. The bike is run by a volunteer pilot. When a number of bicycles have been financed, a corps of volunteer «pilots» must be built. The pilots must undergo a course in the use of the tricycle, safety and more. There is also an insurance scheme for the pilots.
We made a quick decision last summer and signed up for the «Helsinge around bike» exercise. It is a route beyond the hills at Arresø. We brought nursing home passengers and took pictures of committee chair Trine Egtved as a pilot on one of the bikes. Application sent to the Committee on the purchase of bicycles, membership of CWA, etc. This is now appropriated, membership drawn and bicycles purchased. We have sought various funds to finance some of the bikes and at one of the care centers a man became so excited about Cycling Without Age that he gave money to buy an extra rickshaw.
