Corella’s Town Council has organized a number of activities to celebrate Women’s Day: presentations, demonstrations, new (feminist) versions of old fairy tales… Our Erasmus students pitched in to create an escape room to pay a tribute to the 123 women who died in 1911 in the worst industrial disaster in New York’s history: Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire. This mournful event created a wave of anger and sorority and, along with social and female workers demonstrations in European countries, made Women’s Day possible.
Several Erasmus students –surprisingly, all of them girls, have helped to make this escape room. The three social workers (Sara Barricarte, Elsa Ladrero and María Galarreta) have created a very special atmosphere in the room and have paid a beautiful and necessary homage to the 123 women who died in New York in that sad day, March 25th, 109 years ago.
Seven teachers, two Erasmus ones included, participated in the escape room and enjoyed it thoroughly. The sewing mahines, the fabric clothes and rags, the posters and pictures… everything contributed to create a very nice, powerful and vintage atmosphere.
