Following «Cycling against Covid-19» campaign, #EnBiciContraCovid-19, we’ve compared three means of transport (walking, cycling and driving) to commute to school every day. We’ve analysed two different routes and pointed out the money spent, CO2 generated, time passed, calories burnt… It’s crystal clear that driving is terrible for individuals and society as a whole and that biking is as sustainable as walking but faster and more efficient. Surprisingly, one route is faster cycling than driving (googlemaps dixit!), even without taking into account the time needed to walk to the place where the car is parked or start the engine at home, take the car out of the garage, close the gate, etc. and park the car at destination.
So, what’s the moral here? Cycle to school, it’s the most convinient, sustainable, cheapest and, often, fastest way to do it. And if you are not still a believer… give it a go!
