We proposed our town council one month ago to arrange a meeting with associations, schools and the health centre to tackle Covid-19-related issues, sustainable mobility included. The meeting took place on June 15 and dealt just with our mobility proposals. Eleven people, plus three biciclistas (Cristina Gallo, Juan Luis Echarri and Toño Peña) participated.
We discussed about sustainable mobility challenges in our little town. Only one association (Paddle Players), two schools (Primary and Secondary, Alhama High School) and eight councillors participated. The meeting was quite fruitless but at least we stated and defended our ideas and got to know other points of view. Unfortunately, not everybody shares that overusing cars for commuting, going to school or run errands causes polution, noise, accidents, costs lots of money and takes up too much public space. We feel rather lonely in this crucial civil struggle.
