We've had a very complete and emotional day in Lithuania today.
We started by visiting the community of Antanavas, Reda's village and the place where she is trying to change many things. The first thing we visited was the wooden church of Antanavas and its crypt. Then the children's center for families with few resources and the center for the elderly.
Each of the countries have planted an oak tree in the park of this town. Then we went to the Bagotogi library, another project that Reda also promoted, and a very beautiful wooden church next to the Bagotoji park. We ate the best dishes of the trip in a log cabin: a kind of soup with potato, meat and herbs (we call it «calderillo» in Spain) and then cabbage stuffed with vegetables and rice.
In the afternoon we went to see the 14 km trail that has been marked in Kazlu Ruda with Erasmus funds and the explanatory panel with the logos of the five partners. After the trail we went to Kardaku, a school in the forest with many classrooms in nature, wooden huts, Indian teepees with one with a fire in the middle … Kardoku has 30 boys and girls and 9 teachers. Teaching is very practical, by projects and always integrated in nature, but without neglecting the official curriculum because they also take official exams.
We finished the day with regional dances in Buda Community Center of Buda, exhibition and practice with the spinning wheels, the weaver and the mechanical iron. Alicia Díez Fdez, an Erasmus volunteer who is studying BioTechnology in Kaunas (Lithuania) has joined us for dinner at the end of the day. Reda gave us the diplomas after a very rich dinner and we closed the day with a relaxing conversation at the hotel.
