Last week, from 10th to 16th December, 25 students enjoyed an unforgettable trip to England. They stayed with local families in Broadstairs, a coastal town in Kent county, in the South-East of Great Britain. The students attended some lessons and workshoops in Broadstairs English Center. They visited Canterbury, London and Margate.

Do not miss this account of the trip by Carmen Gallo, 1st ESO:

DAY 1

We arrived at Stansted airport in London. Two hours passed in the bus and we arrived at the academy where our families picked us up. In our family, the husband was in Cyprus, they had an 18 year old daughter and a «modern house». They offered us toast and a chocolate milkshake, and after that we went to bed.

DAY 2

We woke up, and Lesley, the host mom, drove us to the academy. There we did a test, not a big deal, and we had lunch. We also did a scavenger hunt about Broadstairs, the town we were in and we had free time. Then, after dinner in the house, we went back to the academy to do karaoke.

DAY 3

We woke up early and got to class. They changed classes because of the level of English. We took a break, class, then had lunch and went to Canterbury on train. There we explored the city in a tour guide, and then had THREE hours of free time! My friends and I bought sweets, went to Burger King, and we also went to Tim´s Tiny tearoom. Then we went back to our house, had dinner, came back to the academy to do drama, and went back home again, but we were having problems with the family, so we decided to change families ´cause they were scolding us for no reason.

DAY 4

That day we woke up earlier than before because we were going to London and we had two hours by train! We said goodbye to the family because it was the last we were going to see from them but they were stubborn. Even though, they gave us a packed lunch, but we didn´t eat it anyway. We got in the train and went to London, where we also had a guided tour about London´s special buildings. Then we had a break for lunch, and my friends and I went to McDonalds. We had fun in London. At night time we met our new family, and they had a big house.

DAY 5

That day we went to class for the last time, had a break for the last time, had «lunch» for the last time, and went to Margate. It is a small town near the sea side, where we went to a gallery, to check out art, and also had free time, where we actually had lunch in Burger King. We bought tons of stuff and went to Costa Coffe. This was our last trip in England to another town. At eight o´clock we had a marcial arts and self-defense class. It was pretty cool.

DAY 6

Our last day. We packed our bags feeling sad because we where leaving a wonderful place, where the people were nice but the food wasn´t that good. In the airport we also went to Burger King! That was it for England and us. It had to end sometime, because we didn´t belong there. We are Spanish, for God´s sake!
