Last 23rd November, our high school held the second cross performed by students who ran to declare their firm opposition to gender violence. The race took part along a path located around Corella’s countryside. As I was involved in the race, I can mention that the atmosphere was incredibly amazing as everyone was ready to participate and contribute to the cause.
To start with, this event was possible thanks to the persistence of the physical education’s head of department, Toño Peña. Moreover, the high school’s caretakers Mila, Jose and Fran, provided the dorsals which the students wore through the race. There were also various teachers that helped the participants before the start and registered afterwards their performance.
Although the day had started with the sky covered in dark clouds, it suddenly began to rain. As the path was not asphalted, it got muddy enough to complicate the course of the race. Despite the difficulties, the cross was not cancelled and everything was ready at the scheduled time. Thank god the rain stopped a couple of hours before the start and we were able to run without being wet, which is a huge advantage. However, the trek was still puddly and unfortunately, several students were close to fall down to the floor.
All in all, it was a great event that reinforced Alhama High School’s involvement against gender violence. ________________________________________________________________________
